Dynamic Remarketing showing loads of view through conversion

Hi everyone,

I have just set up a number of dynamic remarketing campaigns and I am wondering how to measure view through conversions on these campaigns?

I have View-through conversion search de-duplication enabled, however I am seeing a massive ammount of view through conversions after the first couple of days of remarketing running, one campaign has 53 VT conversions with only 587 impressions on remarketing ads.

Im wondering is it possible that it is measuring people on my remarketing lists who have already converted earlier as VT conversions

Hi Carl,

The VT conversions should only be counting when someone saw an ad from that campaign, didn't click on it, but then later went to your site and converted.

It shouldn't count users that converted previously and are now seeing the remarketing ads. The sequence is reversed: they see the ad --> if they convert afterward, it's a VT conversion.

The conversion rate you're seeing is fairly high, so one thing I would do is check where you have the conversion code placed on your site. Ensure that it's not peppered in places that you aren't considering a conversion.

Hope that's helpful!

No thats definitely not it.

This is a 7 year old account and with respect I'm an Adwords certified professionals with over 5 years experience in Adwords so I know where to place tracking codes, its rare anything really throws me.

The thing is the list populated with over a thousand members within the few hours, who I assume are previous customers who were imported from merchant center, I thought it might be a bug with the new dynamic remarketing.

Hi Carl,

There are no known technical issues with dynamic remarketing of which I'm aware. However, I'm happy to pass along your information to one of our specialists if you'd like them to take a look at your specific account just to ensure things are working as intended?

Just let me know if I can do that for you.

We are having the exact same issue here, but our situation may be a bit different. We run several ecommerce sites that we had previously set up with tag-based remarketing. We created a new dynamic remarketing campaign and only tagged the product page to see how dynamically created lists would populate.

Several of the dynamic lists began populating with more members than we had visitors to the store. There have also been more view through conversions than actual orders for that store. I have to think that because the dynamic remarketing seems to use a shared tag, and that tag isn't substantially different from our old remarketing tags, that it is errantly including all visitors and conversions for all stores in the lists (even though we haven't updated the tracking codes).
