Dynamic Remarketing Custom XML Feed

Hello,

We are trying to upload a custom xml feed for our dynamic remarketing Adwords campaign which will target users in Greece and we keep receiving the same error: “Input error: Looks like you've added custom attributes (<?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>). Custom attributes are not allowed for this data type, please remove them from the file.”

So we have some questions regarding the “custom feed” (xml) and its parameters:

  1. First of all, is it possible to use an xml file for a custom feed instead of a csv, xlsx, etc file?
  2. What are the declarations of the feed’s parameters (ID, description, image url, etc)? Is there any support link where we can find the required naming for each parameter?
  3. In the past, we had successfully created an xml feed for a client of ours, in order to be uploaded on the Merchant Center. So, can we declare the variables just like we did in the “Products Feed Specification” on the merchant center or they are not the same for Adwords Dynamic Remarketing?

(1) no; currently, it is not possible to use an xml-file for a custom-feed.

(2) the custom-feed attribute (column) names and an example
template custom-feed file for dynamic-remarketing are here --
https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/6053288

(3) no; a merchant-center-feed has nothing whatever to do with a custom-feed
for dynamic-remarketing -- the merchant-center products-feed specification
will work only in the merchant-center and only for the retail business-type
with respect to dynamic-remarketing.

using the merchant-center product-feed inventory data for
the dynamic-remarketing retail business-type is mainly a
convenience-feature for retail-merchants who are currently
advertising using product-listing-ads.

Thank you so much for your answer!

We need to create a custom feed and we can't use the merchant center, so probably we'll have to use a csv file for the custom feed.
Is there a step-by-step guide we can use, maybe with examples about the structure and the format of the csv file and the way to complete it?

first, you're welcome.

an example template csv file and and the structure-definitions are here:
https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/6053288
https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/6053288#custom_feed
simply click on custom for additional details.

google's setup-guide is essentially step-by-step guide and begins here:

otherwise, a support specialist at google may be contacted for guidance:
