Conversion Tracking Code

Every page of the site has a lead gen form. When  the form is submitted, there is not a thankyou.html or similar confirmation page. Rather the thank you message is returned to the page in place with no new page load. Our programmers are trying to get the code to work but haven't found a solution yet and I thought perhaps you guys might have seen this issue before and have a solution. I've already searched the adwords forums but did see a good answer there.

One option is for your programmer to add On Click Event Tracking to the contact form Button.

The link would look something like this:

<a href="http://www.yoursite dot com" onClick=”_gaq.push ([‘_trackEvent’, ‘category’, ‘action’, ‘value’]);” > <img src="images/yourimage.jpg" /></a>

There are a couple required fields like Category and Action and others you can add to get more granular.

You can view the data in Google Analytics under Content > Events

If the button is the very last step in the form being submitted I think you can be safe tracking with the onclick event tracking.
