Call button - Use both call extensions and location extensions?

Our primary goal is to get the user to call us to set up an appointment.

  • We have multiple retail locations in a large metro area
  • Each location has its own Google+ page within the same synced Google My Business account.
  • We target an area of 3 miles around each location extension address.

When a user searches within this target radius we want our ad to show the appropriate map marker, address and call button (on mobile) for that specific location

If enhanced location extensions are already showing each locations phone number on desktop and a call button on high end mobile, what is advantage of also using call extensions?

Especially considering that with call extensions we would have to set up separate campaigns for each location to get the appropriate phone number to show.

Hello again David;

In principle correct; though the reporting (call), metrics are different, depending whether you use Google forwarding number or your own number.

Hi David;

This is a nice question;

When you use both a location extension and  a phone extension, Google would show the phone of your nearest location;

The benefit of using both is that with a call extension you could get reporting about the calls performances.

Now you could use both of them in the same campaign.

Greetings Moshe,

So, for example, if I have 5 addresses and phone numbers synced with
location extensions and I have these same 5 phone numbers added in call
extensions a clicked call button (on mobile) will call the proper phone
number and start logging clicks and conversions for that phone number in
the call extensions report?

Although that would be perfect, I have been unable to find documentation
for this in the help pages or otherwise.

Thanks
