Bulk Edit keywords added instead of having their bids updated!

Hello guys.

I have a problem with bulk uploads:

I normally update my keyword CPC bids from a bulk edit. The files usually contain around 5K keyword changes and I do it for a lot of accounts. I use the columns "Campaign", "Ad Group", "Keyword", "Max CPC".

The problem is that sometimes some of the keywords are being added instead of having their bids changed, those keywords already exist, are spelled exactly the same (as well as their Campaign and Ad Group names), and if I do it in the AdWords Editor there is no problem (all changes are bid changes).

What is the cause of this problem and if possible, how can I fix it?

Best, James.

most likely this is due to upper or lower case difference in keywords, such instance happens very often. Excel will consider upper and lower case as same, but editor wont and it will create new set of keywords.

Hi James,

Are you suggesting that sometimes this process you use works fine and randomly, other times it doesn't work?

Are you downloading a fresh sheet before you're making your bid adjustments?

Hi Tommy.

Yes it only happens randomly, the bid changes were done via modification of
a downloaded keyword report. This problem doesn't happen if I use the
AdWords Editor.

Thanks for the Answer!
