Anyone seeing less calls since Google stopped phone #'s in ad text?

My company is noticing a drop off in calls since Google disallowed phone numbers to be used in ad text such as ad headlines.  We are using call extensions so we are seeing the phone numbers appearing still, just smaller in size than a headline #.  Our PPC company believes this is the reason for the call drop off.  I'm not sure how often the phone extensions are not serving either.

Anyone else noticed a drop off in calls over the last few weeks or so because of this?

Is anyone else noticing a drop off in calls to their company since Google's change in April disallowing phone numbers to be used in ad text including headlines?  We are using call extensions but are still noticing a large drop off in calls since this happened.  Anyone else noticing this?

Hello there;

If you run a search on this community for call extensions; let's say for the last 4 weeks you'll find many advertisers complain for various reasons.

However; once Google made a change ; It is unlikely to revert it.

@Alys  I and my other friends are also facing this problem. We were using our TollFree number in Text ads. We removed the Toll Free number from Ads and ads were re-submitted for approval. I believe editing an ad affects the rating of that ads though I am not sure of this.  Now we all can see a huge difference in number of calls.

There are few reasons why we are not getting enough calls after removing our number from Ads.

1. Earlier, people were able to see our Toll Free number without clicking on Ad. But now they need to click on Ad to see the number ( if Call extension number is not present in that search).

2. Every person is not using Call Extension. Some competitors are still using old Ads with phone number because their account have not been reviewed and some are using symbols in their numbers in ads. ( I am talking about IT Tech Support business). Customer will definitely choose ads with a number available over your ads which do not have a number.

3. You will see difference in total impressions and Call Extension impressions for your campaign. Call extension display the number in search depending upon the rating.
