Adwords an Ad server?

Hello guys,

My question is very simple. I am little confused between 'ad servers' and adwords functionality.

According to Wikipedia definition "ad serving is the technology and software that places advertisements on websites" thats what adwords also do (on display).. if I am right?

Please help me solve the silly puzzle!

Thanks,

Kundan

Hi @Kundan,

Ad Servers is a generic term for several ad serving systems... and AdWords is the proprietary product version of Google.

Any system that serves ads could be called Ad Servers... but only Google's system can be called AdWords, which is the world's best and leading ad system.

Kind Regards,

James
