Adwords Editor removes not pauses

Hi,

So when I open all the current ads in Editor to change, say, the dest url, it seems to "remove" the older ads and creates new one.

I was hoping it "pauses". The only reason why I want pause is because I hear it still keeps the history so the account health remains unaltered. I'm wondering removal makes a dent in the QS, CTR, etc?

Please explain if I'm crazy for freaking out?

Thanks!

Hi Mark,

AdWords Editor treat the new ads, based on the selection in Tools > Settings

Change the 'Default' Change existing URLs to new URLs (default) to

Create new ad if display URL or destination URL is different.

(Under the heading 'Import')

You should pause the old ads yourself (the option will not pause the old ads automatically). But if you select this option, it will not edit/remove the old ads. The ads with the new destination URLs will be created as new ads.

Hi Mark,

Editing an ad is the same as creating a new ad and removing the old version. Your edited ad’s performance history is set to zero.

Fond more information in the link below.

Hi Deepak,

But when you "copy and edit" on Adwords interface, it doesn't "Remove" the old ad.
Adwords Editor on the other hand creates a new ad but "Removes" the old ad.

If I do that, in future, when I mass-edit ads in the Adwords Editor with new dest url, it will pause the old ads instead of removing them?

Got it. I will manually pause the old ones like I normally do in the Interface.
Thanks so much for the help Deepak! I will update this thread if it did not work...
