Youtube Video Ad Targeting + Placements

Set up a video campaign with very specific video placements.

The networks selected in the campaign settings are:

  • Youtube Search
  • Youtube videos

Does this mean that the client's video will show in youtube search alongside the targeted placements?

How does AdWords determine when this video will show in youtube search results?  If i have in my video targeting only 5 placements.

Hi Aurora,

If you want to ensure that your video ads will be eligible and show for searches on YouTube, you should include relevant keywords among your targeting options. If that is not your intention, I would opt-out of YouTube search all together and just use your placement targeting choices.

If you do decide to use YT search and include keywords in your campaign, it's best to use separate ad groups for your varying targeting methods.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the follow up! That's exactly what I decided to do. Since the
opt-out option is at the campaign level, I had to create two campaigns by
targeting:
Youtube Placements
Keywords (since i didn't want to opt out of youtube search for this option)

Thanks!
