YouTube charged £175.00 in last 12 hours - daily budget only £10.71

Hi

I'm running my second ever YouTube ad campaign, using Google Adwords for video.

But as you can see from the description above, it appears the total cost for today alone appears to be £175.07. I set up the campaign on Monday, to start today, and run until 4th September. Daily budget was set at £10.71. I don't know how this had gone so much over budget! I do have 1,314 views, but it has gone ridiculously over budget!

I've paused the campaign because i didn't want to get charged any more - it's for a work account you see.

Is this a mistake - will the figures be corrected? If it's not a mistake - why is Google charging me so much? Is there a setting I haven't set up correctly?

Any help on this appreciated.

Ben

Hi Ben, this seems to be a common problem with new video Campaigns, I've seen it happen a few times.  Don't panic, regardless of what AdWords says the spend is, you'll only be charged for your daily budget (assuming that the budget was always $10 and wasn't higher at some point).

Hello Cobnut,

Thanks for this, but what if I had put in a larger budget earlier on and changed it before the ad was served? Surely Google wouldn't use the old data added by mistake?

Thanks,

Ben

Hi

I have now checked the billing for today, and the difference appears to have been refunded as 'overdelivery credit'. So it would appear that yes I am only being charged my actual budget.

Thanks!
