How to calculate # of users who completed each quartile?

I'm looking to clarify how % Watched is calculated within the Trueview video format.  Is it based on impressions or views as I need to calculate the number of users that completed the video at each specific quartile but I'm having difficulty.  I read somewhere that "video played" to is only attributed to users that watch at least 5 sec of the ad but if that is the case how can I calculate the number of users that completed at each quartile since I can't see how many users only watched 5 sec?

Per the data below, based on this I would assume that 93% of the 30,157 impressions served completed 25% of the video.  And if I was to take that further and look at 100% completion then the number (30,157 *.20 = 6,031) which is more then the total views delivered so it doesn't seem right to calculate the % based on impressions served.

Any thoughts/feedback would be appreciated!

Data:

Impressions delivered: 30,157

Views delivered: 5,955

Video Played to 25% = 93%

Video Played to 50% = 40%

Video Played to 75% = 26%

Video Played to 100% = 20%

Hi Jason,

That's a very interesting and intelligent question. As far as I know, we cannot see the number of users that completed each quartile. But to be doubly sure, I've already escalated this to the video product team. I can't wait to hear back from them on this and I understand you can't either.

But, thanks for waiting,

Mini

Hi Jason,

Here's an update: The % is based on impressions.

Hope that helps,

Mini

Hi

% of view is based on impressions
% of people who have seen 100% are also counted towards 25%, 50% and 75%.
So in case if you want to know actual number of users go with following calculation

(Total Views * Percent) - (Total Views * Immediate Next Large Percentage)

Your result would be like below

  • 0%  - 2111
  • 25% - 15983
  • 50% - 4222
  • 75% - 1809
  • 100% - 6031

Hope that helps.

Hey Guys.

My question is similar to Jasons.
As he described it, AdWords showed 5.955 Views – but when you put together Impressions with the 20% of the Users which watched 100% of the video, you get 6.031 Views.
Maybe it’s me, but I can’t find an answer which would explain that gap. Can you guys help?

Hi guys,

could explain better this formula?

(Total Views * Percent) - (Total Views * Immediate Next Large Percentage)

How did you obtain that results:

  • 0%  - 2111
  • 25% - 15983
  • 50% - 4222
  • 75% - 1809
  • 100% - 6031

Thank you in advanced,

Andrea
