Does Adwords for Video Accept Keyword Match Types?

Dear community!

I want to know if Adwords for Video accepts keyword match types (broad, phrase and exact) for Youtube in-search option. I want for example to create an ad for my video and use "in-search" option. There is an option to add keywords so you could have better control over when or where your ads are triggered. Could I use keywords with squared brackets [] or "" for exact or phrase match in keywords section?

Hi there;

like any other targeting method on GDN, keywords work collectively to create a theme which  is matched (using contextual targeting ) to the content of a page/ YouTube channel; Thus, only broad match would work.

Thx for you reply but I am not sure that I understood you well. Let say my video is about "dog training" and I want to advertise ***just on Youtube*** (not on GDN) with In-search (In-search means when people type keywords in YT then ads are triggered). I want my ad to be triggered only when somebody types "dog training" in YT search box. You are saying that only broad is allowed that means that my ad will be triggered even when somebody search terms like cat training, horse practice etc. and I don't want spend my money on that "junk" traffic.

Moshe is right , here is where you can find this info :

https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2375425?hl=en

Specify content keywords: Enter keywords that will help match your ads to web content. These work just like contextual targeting on the greater Google Display Network, but apply only to videos on the entire network (which includes YouTube videos)."

( Expanding : Structure your campaigns for success )

"Group your keyword lists

When you include keywords in campaigns targeting the Display Network, each keyword is used for targeting and all keywords are considered broad match only."

Yes ; For YouTube search,  only broad match (and negative keywords) would apply.

Hi guys,

I think @Aerotape is asking about Insearch format. It means people who are searching on youtube. I think both answers @mosheTLV & @adrianB refer to display format on Youtube (people who are watching).
Regarding Insearch format "normally", you can use match type as you do in traditional search campaigns.

as google said:
"Search keywords (YouTube Search): These work just like search keywords for a non-video ad campaign, but apply only to search on YouTube." (https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2454017?hl=en)

I said "normally" because since july and the enhanced campaign change, Insearch format is kind of broken.

Since the search query report on youtube re-appeared in Decembre 2013, I experienced lot of bad impressions coming from my broad modifier match type. I think the trouble come from the Broad modifier Match type. A change occured with this match type.

I want to share additional info about this matter. After I asked my question here and got my answers I wanted to be 100% sure if this is right and chatted with Google's Adwords specialist. She said that InSearch does indeed support Match Types but she suggested that I put "Broad match" to get more traffic.

yeah Google always love broad match -Smiley Happy...but advertisers don't. Just be careful if you use broad modifier (+keyword) at this time on Insearch Ads. It is broken so better use phrase match "keyword"
