is it safe to have ad words conversion & remarketing on the same page?

Is it safe to on the order confirmation page have the ad words conversion tracking and remarketing tracking on the same page.

e.g. currently we have

var google_conversion_id = xxxxxxxx;

var google_conversion_language = "en_GB";

var google_conversion_format = "1";

var google_conversion_color = "666666";

if (0.15)

{

var google_conversion_value = 0.15;

}

var google_conversion_label = "Purchase";

//-->

You have disabled script in your browser, please enable the script support.

<scri pt language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="https://www .googleads ervices.com/pagead/co nversion.js">

</no script>

is it safe to add the remarketing tags on the same page?

see the below

<im g height="1" width="1" style="border-style:none;" alt="" src="//goog leads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/viewth roughconversion/xxxxxxxx/?value=0&guid=ON&script=0"/>

</nos cript>

Hope you can help

Hi Simon,

I don't think there could be any security related issues here. Can you clarify more on what sense you are talking about security issues? Did you mean to say any conflicting issues when the code triggers?

Reason being that Conversion Tracking code and Remarketing Code are meant for different purposes i.e. One is to be triggered when someone complete the buying cycle and reaches Order Confirmation, while the second one is for collecting cookies of all the users who completed the orders and then your Remarketing ad will be showcase to those users based on what sort of Remarketing List you have created.

My Thoughts!

Hi there

thanks for the reply

I just wanted to see if there's any code level conflicts?

There should be no conflict but I would recommend as a best practice that you use Google Tag Manager - http://www.google.co.il/tagmanager/ - to organize and simply your codes.

*Pro Tip* In Tag Manager you can customize 'priority' of a code firing so you want need to worry about any conflicts.

Examining code conflicts "visually" would be quite difficult, however, when in doubt try to perform a test conversion and use Chrome + Google Tag Assistant ( https://support.google.com/tagassistant/answer/2947093?hl=en ). Should there be any issues, you'll immediately see the icon turn red.

Apart from that, Google themselves recommend placing the remarketing tag on all pages with no exception. Had there been any potential conflicts, I assume they would have specified that the conversion page should be excluded.

Hi Simon,

There is not any conflict between two codes (Re-marketing and conversion codes). You should place conversion code on a single page (Success page) and Re-marketing code should be all pages of website. Later you can target your specific visitors in re-marketing.
