discrepancy between goal# and pageview#

I set up a goal to track how many people came to a product page on my website. I wanted to be able to better understand their behavior.

When I got in the results I found a discrepancy between the amount of hits that the Pageviews, in site content, gave me and how many hits my goal got.

Same url. different amount of hits? How is that possible.

I know I set it up midday but I corrected for that flaw. And I still have two hits that are tracked in pageviews but not goals

Hi marcom,

This is a pure Analytics question in an AdWords forum. You might get better answers over there.

This depends on how you set up the goal, when you set up the goal and the date range you are looking at.

How many steps in the goal?

Does the goal have a required first step?

Did the pageviews happen after setting up the goal, or before. Pageviews previous to the goal setup will not be recognized as goals completions.

Best of Luck!

Pete
