Will tracking fall off the {lpurl} during a redirect?

Hello --

I am looking to see if the tracking for the {lpurl} will fall off when a redirect is in place.

Situation:

Account level tracking template

Example:

Tracking template = www.redirect.com/{lpurl}&test

{lpurl} = www.abc.com/page

Will the final URL be : www.abc.com/page&test after the redirect?

Hi Chris G,

Yes, it should be, but that is an invalid URL that will cause a 404 error on your site. If you use an ampersand in the URL, it must be preceded with a question mark and at least on name/value pair.

Examples:
http://www.example.com&test -- the site will not be found

http://www.example.com/&test -- the page will not be found

http://www.example.com/index.html&test -- the page will not be found

http://www.example.com/index.html?&test -- the page will not be found but the query string may not be processed properly

http://www.example.com/index.html?test -- This is the proper format for this URL

Your example should probably look like this:

Example:

Tracking template = www.redirect.com/{lpurl}?test

{lpurl} = www.abc.com/page/

Note, I added a forward slash to your lpurl. A destination without a file extension is assumed to be a folder, showing the default page for that folder. In this case, the trailing slash should be included. If there is a file extension, no trailing slash should be included.

Anyway, that's the way I see it.

Best of Luck!

Pete

Hey Pete,

Thanks for the tip. Outside of syntax -- would the "?test" fall off the {lpurl} during the redirect?
