Why is remarketing_only in my code instead of conversion_value

In the sample code, google shows var google_conversion_value = 0; but in my conversion tracking code, it shows var google_remarketing_only = false;

Can anyone explain to me what the difference is and why it gives me remareting instead of conversion value? Thanks

Hi Brian,

Welcome to the AdWords Community!

First you might want to just double-check that your Conversion Code was correctly copied from your AdWords Account and pasted on your confirmation page.

If it is, then when you set up your Conversion, what Conversion Category did you select? Options are: Purchase/Sale of your product; Signup for a newsletter or email; Lead, like a phone call or interest form; or View of key page like a list of services or contact page.

To see, log into your AdWords Account and click on Tools, then click on Conversions. Then click on the Conversion you're looking at and select the Settings tab. If you didn't select Purchase/Sale for a Conversion category then you probably won't see "value" in your Conversion Code. If you're an eCommerce site and want to report on a fixed or dynamic value, update your Conversion Code to be Purchase/Sale and then copy the new code to your confirmation page. You can update your Conversion Category by clicking on Edit Settings.

Hi Brian B,

The code for conversion and remarketing looks very similar. The conversion code will "show var google_remarketing_only = false;", the remarketing code will show "var google_remarketing_only = true;" The conversion code should include "var google_conversion_value = 0;". Your shopping cart software should be set up to replace that 0 with the actual conversion value.

If you are not seeing "google_conversion_value" anywhere in your conversion code, reinstall the code.

Best of Luck!

Thanks for the reply. I have tried creating multiple codes and each time, there is no google_conversion_value. Here is what it gives me every time.

<script type="text/javascript">
/* */
var google_conversion_id = 987387591;
var google_conversion_language = "en";
var google_conversion_format = "2";
var google_conversion_color = "ffffff";
var google_conversion_label = "L6ibCMnUuRIQx63p1gM";
var google_remarketing_only = false;
/* */
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="//www.googleadservices.com/pagead/conversion.js">
</script>
<noscript>

Hi Brian B,

I have no idea why you are not getting the google_conversion_value in the script. I suggest you add the variable and the value. It doesn't really matter where within the script block you create the variable/value. I would add it just before the google_remarketing_only line. Assign the actual value of the sale.

In the noscript section, add "&value=nnn.nn" to the end of the query string for the image. Replace nnn.nn with the actual value of the sale.

That should start recording conversion values.

Best of Luck!
