Why Avg. Page Visit Duration shows 00:00:00?

I am running an Ad campaign and getting clicks on my Ad as well. But I am not able to understand - Why Avg. Page Visit Duration shows 00:00:00..? If some one is clicking on my ad and landing on my page, ideally it must show at least a fraction of second even if the visitor drops out.

Hello Diptikr,

I am not sure of the answer but after seeing the screenshot i am making a random guess that for 00:00:00 Avg. visit duration, your bounce rate is 100%. It seems person make a visit to your site and bounce back immediately & Analytics did not record seconds for 100% bounce rate queries.

Again, this is only my random guess. Please correct me if i am wrong.

Thanks,
Neha

For those of you reading this post who don't want to look as Asaf's linked article, you will notice on the data provided all keywords with 100% bounce rate show 00:00:00 time spen on the site. It doesn't really mean the user spent no time looking at the page. It just means Google is unable to calculate the amount of time spent on a page when the page view is a bounce.

Diptikr, If you absolutely need this data, you could set up trackPageview('exit') in the page unload event. Google would then be able to calculate time on page for bounces. Then again, this would cause Analytics to report no bounces. And it is not the simplest thing to do.

Best of Luck!

I think this might help

Visit Duration

The length of time in a session. Calculation is typically the timestamp of the last activity in the
session minus the timestamp of the first activity of the session.
Notes:
Also referred to as “Time Spent.” When there is only one piece of activity in a session (a singlepage
visit or single-event visit), no visit duration is typically reported because there is no second
timestamp to subtract from, and the amount of time spent is unknown. If the duration can not
be calculated then zero is sometimes used as the value. Including "zero duration" visits can
significantly reduce your overall calculated average visit duration.
