Website logs show far fewer visitors than Google clicks

My Adwords campaign is showing almost 3 times more clicks on my ad than my website logs registered (I am NOT using Google Analytics, just my own website logs).  Why this discrepancy?

Hi Carole,

There could be many reasons; few of them includes repeated clicks to your ads, redirection issues, browser limitations etc....

Here's the detail explanation provided in the help center article around this topic: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2375399?hl=en

I hope that helps!

Hi Carole W,

It depends on how you are identifying AdWords clicks in your web logs. If you are looking at the referral data, the clicks won't add up. It's just not a reliable method of identifying those clicks. If you have auto-tagging enabled, look for incoming requests that include a gclid value in the query string. This is the most reliable method of counting AdWords clicks in your logs.

I hope this helps!
