Do you think that multiple analytics tracking code snippet should be use in one page?

Here is the exmaple of Analytics tracking code snippet:

<script type="text/javascript">

  var _gaq = _gaq || [];   _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-9578051-5']);   _gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'brlets.co.uk']);   _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);

  (function() {     var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;     ga.src=('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js';     var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);   })();

</script>

<script type="text/javascript">

  var _gaq = _gaq || [];   _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-1698043-5']);   _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);

  (function() {     var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;     ga.src=('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js';     var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);   })();

</script>

</head>

Hello anilkchand99

Because you use different UA numbers you can use different Google Analytics code.

But most of the time people are doing this. It is an solution to a specific problem they have.
Most of the time, there are better of other solutions in Analytics that they do not know off.

What is your goal with using two codes? Maybe there is a better solution to what you are trying to achieve.

Hi anilkchand99,

The site has been setup so that 2 separate Analytics accounts are posted with data from the same site. This may have been done to give certain users access to Analytics data without the AdWords data, or for a different reason.

It will work just fine.

Best of Luck!

Hi anilkchand99 and petebardo,

Google analytics code with different UA code does not (always) mean that there are different users. It only means that you have different WebProperties.

Only one user can have access to the different webproperties. But there can be different and even more users that have access to a single web property.

Most of the time people use the tracking code once, just with one UA number. The level of access to data is controlled by giving access to different profiles, to different users.

Define access levels for different users is done on profile level :
1. In Profiles you can decide wether to give people access to Adwords Data or not (if it is linked)
2. In Profiles you can decede whther to give people access to Adsense Data or not. (if it is linked)
3. You can restrain access in a profile by making Profile filter.

As example restrict the access to a part of the website data. That could be a subdomain. Or other restrictions you can make with a filter, with totally different characteristics. Like on user sees only the traffic originated by mobile devices. Every profile can have different filters, and give access to different users.

Important is to always have at least a profile with all the traffic. This profile has not any filter.
This is like a kind of backup.

Once you put a filter on a profile, you can never get back the traffic filtered out at any moment in that specific profile. Not even if you stop filtering, and remove the filter.

I do not say, that what I write is the only solution.  But it is the way most people work with Analytics.

You can decide what kind of solution you want for your website.
