Tracking Homepage visits after visiting landing pages

I am looking to track how many visits come on our landing pages lp1, lp2 and then visit our homepage.

The landing page doesnt have a link to the homepage, so they would probably visit the homepage in a new tab ( by direct URL or Googling) while researching the brand. <-- I want to track how many people are researching the brand after visitng the landing pages before filling the form.
I have setup funnels to test on 2 of my landing pages. Here's is how they go:

funnel step 1: websitename.com/lp1
goal step: websitename.com

or

funnel step 1: websitename.com/lp2
goal step: websitename.com

Here is the problem,
I see the same numbers for goal completions both landing pages. I understadn that the goal URL is same hence numbers would be same but I believed that it would be split up once we setup different funnels, correct me if I am wrong
Also when the check the previous goal steps, it looks like the visits are from all sorts of pages and not just lp1 or lp2

How can I correct this. I appreciate the help here!

Hello Ojass N,

Your question is about testing 2 destination goals which include each a Funnel with 2 steps.

This is more of an analytics setup question so please post it in the dedicated forum :

This setup is described here :

"

Specify the match type as Equals to, Begins with, or Regular expression. Learn more about how to use regular expressions.

When setting up a Funnel, use a page name or an app screen name string as the Funnel step, like in the Destination field.  "

Hi Ojass,

Thanks for your posting. Firstly I want to clarify that your Landing must be within the domain or sub-domain of your destination URL (see reference from Google's Support help page below):

The URL address for the page in your website where you'd like people to be sent after they click your ad.

  • For each ad, you'll specify a display URL (shown to customers with your ad) and a destination URL (used to determine where people are taken when they click your ad). Google's policy is that both URLs be within the same website (meaning that they share the same domain).
  • Your destination URL isn't visible in the ad, so you can use it to direct people to a specific page within your site without cluttering your ad. For example, an ad could use a clean display URL like example.com to show with the ad, while using a more specific destination URL like example.com/camera_purchase_page.html to link customers to the most relevant page.

Secondly, you can use Adwords Conversion tracking to track how many visits to your landing pages. I suggest creating two separate campaigns in order to track the two different landing pages. You can go to this link to learn more about setting up conversions.  https://support.google.com/adwords/topic/3119145?hl=en&ref_topic=3119141

Hope this information helps!

John, I appreciate the reply here. I agree with Adrian that this is more of an analytics question. I was looking more to track visitors who go this path 1) Visit LP 2) Visit Homepage ( but there is no link to the Homepage from the LP)
