Tools and Analysis- Keyword Tool

Hi,

When using the Keyword Tool in "Tools and Analysis", you type the website in that you are curious about (say you type in www.example.com). When you get the top 100 results, do these mean that people searched these terms and www.example.com came up in the results, or people actually clicked on and visited www.example.com after searching said term?

Thanks

Hi Sudip,

The keyword tool is mainly for seeking ideas for related and relevant keywords for your account taking into account the content on the site you list.  To learn more about the data there see this page:  http://support.google.com/adwords/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2472679&from=96571&rd=1

If you are looking for actual search data, you can try 'Insights for Search'.  You're not going to find actual click data for anyone other than your site and that will be in your account.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your response, I understand that... however, what is the purpose of typing in a website in the website field, how does this alter the results.

Marked as Best Answer.

Hi,

Not sure if you happened to see this page while you were on the other link I shared but it explains how the tool works and what its intended use is.  http://support.google.com/adwords/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2470029&topic=1713918&path=1713917-1713...

You want to find keywords for your account.  You enter the website that you are promoting (optional) and it may scan the pages for content and keywords to suggest to you for inclusion in your Adwords account.
