My website call conversion forwarding number appears differently to the forwarding number in my ad- is this correct?

Hi Kristy,

No, the Google forwarding number will always be different form the actual number mentioned on the website.
When you use a Google forwarding number with your call extension or call-only ad, Google assigns a unique Google phone number to your ad. This phone number, which is either toll-free, equivalent to a local number, or a local number if available.

Hi Kirsty,

Could you confirm if you are looking to track the phone call conversions that happens on your website using Google forwarding number OR you are simply talking about the Google forwarding number and what are the best practices to use it.

Thanks for your reply Kirsty.

I'm tracking phone call conversions from 'calls from website' and from our
call extension. I believed that the forwarding number which appears in the
ad via the call extension would be the same as the forwarding number that
is visible for that session on the website- otherwise I wonder how calls
from the website are from that specific ad impression- if this makes sense?
Or are they completely unlinked?
