Same GCLID mean one charge?

Hi All,

Currently our adwords costs  / clicks seem to be spiraling, with no additional conversions.

I'm studying the access log files for the site, and I'm finding a fair few multiple clicks from the same address in short succession, usually for the same product (via shopping ads).

If the click has the same gclid value, does it count as one click?

What is the timeframe for recording a new valid click on an ad?

Here's an example of a cluster of clicks from the log file, that to me seem a bit out of what I'd expect, am I correct in this assumption?

Hi
GCLID for every click is always unique.
In your log entries 1,2 have same GCLID and 2,3,4 also have same GCLID for same landing page which shows 2 unique clicks and rest look like page refresh either manually or automated.

But yes I agree with Ali you shouldn't be charged for clicks from same IDs in such a short succession.

Hope this helps

Hi Dave,

The gclid parameter is for tracking the click once it's taken place while the tools for measuring clicks that AdWords uses for billing are separate.

You shouldn't be charged for multiple clicks from the same IP address especially when they come in such quick succession.

Another contributor posted this helpful answer that you too may find helpful:

Thanks for that,

I'm digging through the logs and marrying them up to the reports, and that is very helpful information.

I understand that 2, or more, clicks from the same ip may be valid, so wanted to see if there was some way of identifying what we could be potentially charged for.

Thank you both for your help!
