Replacing conversions

Hi guys

How do you deal in situation when advertised website has 2 conversions with one being exclusive of another?
Let's say, on the website we have 2 forms:
1 - sign up (lead generation form)
2 - sales form (ecommerce, actual sale)
We create two conversions, one for lead generation with value of $1 and for sale with actual sale value, but let's say $20.

Some user, clicked on the adword ad and on the first day filled-in lead generation form (1st conversion). Adwords counted this as conversion with value of $1. Some hours later, he returned to the website (not via adwords) and completed a sale. Adwords counted another conversion with value of $20 and shows in interface for the keyword 2 conversions with value of $21. Which is incorrect, because we only earned $20.
Is there a way for the conversion to replace another conversion from the same user/session?

thanks

Hi Dmitry,

The first answer that comes to mind is to change the settings of your sign up conversion. Simply tell AdWords to not give the conversion a value. This should solve the problem.

Hope this helps

Hi Dmitry,

There must be a mistake here. As you have mentioned above if a user comes back to your website ( by not clicking on your ad this time), his/her cookie is still set for the 1st keyword that got triggered. Since there was no ad served for the second visit a conversion or a conversion value cannot be attributed to a second keyword.

When the same user completes a sale on his 2nd visit to the website, the conversion value should be and will be attributed to the 1st keyword itself making its total value $ 21 ( $1 for the 1st conversion & $20 for the second).

Could you please check your keywords & conversion value settings and confirm if something isn't wrong there?

Cheers!

Thanks for the answer. No, unfortunately, it would not solve, as I simply stop counting values of lead generating conversions.
