Problems seeing conversions in Adwords - should I disable auto-tagging?

Hi there

I'm having problems seeing conversions in Adwords. I can see them in Google Analytics, but not in Adwords. I'm wondering if turning off auto-tagging will solve a lot of the problems or if it is coming from somewhere else?

Here are the different types of conversions that I am tracking for this project. Please could you offer some advice on the best way of troubleshooting and/or setting these up correctly?

Many thanks
Laurence

1. Custom landing pages are generating leads for existing products e.g.

Through Google adwords, the user lands on this page: http://www.mainsite.com/custom-page/

If they click on the banner, they arrive at this page: http://www.mainsite.com/product-one/

The conversion in Google Analytics has been setup including the UTM parameters i.e. http://www.mainsite.com/product-one/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=product-name&utm_cont...

2. Customer landing pages are generating downloads of a free ebook (completed on another website of ours)

Through Google adwords, the user lands on this page: http://www.mainsite.com/custom-page/

If they click on a download button which loads a modal pop-up (using Mailmunch), and they can select epub or kindle. For the epub button they arrive at this page: http://www.downloadsite.com/epub/

There are 2 conversions setup in Google Analytics:

a. For http://www.mainsite.com (an internal conversion), in the <a href> link, there is an onClick function:

onClick="ga('send', 'event', { eventCategory: 'ebook', eventAction: 'download', eventLabel: 'project-name', eventValue: 1});"

(someone suggested that removing the value may help but I haven't tried that yet)

b. For the destination or conversion page on http://www.downloadsite.com I have used UTM parameters i.e. in the same <a href> link, the user lands on this page: http://www.downloadsite.com/product-one/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=product-name&utm_...

I can see the conversions coming through in Google Analytics for http://www.downloadsite.com, but not in Google Adwords for http://www.mainsite.com

So here is the full <a href> code:

<a target="_parent" onClick="ga('send', 'event', { eventCategory: 'ebook', eventAction: 'download', eventLabel: 'project-name', eventValue: 1});" href="http://www.downloadsite.com/product-one/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=product-name&utm_...">

Auto tagging isn't the issue if AdWords data is accurately pulling through to analytics. Double check that you have the proper analytics property linked to the AdWords account, and that the analytics conversions are being imported in the conversions tab.
