Need advice for tricky GA Goal Tracking

Hey Guys,

I'm dealing with a high level client that has a quite complicated conversion funnel. Here's the issue, i managed to get them to insert some javascript code in their iframe to activate the AdWords conversion pixel at the end of the funnel becayse they have NO Thank You Page.

This is fine for AdWords but problematic for Google Analytics. I'm trying to setup goal tracking but since they are unable or unwilling to insert a Thank You page at the end I have no idea how to setup the Goal Funnel.

The last few URLs are dynamic and they look something like this:

Step 1:

https://subdomain.domain.com/index.php?NAME_PATH=Internet2013&SCREEN=CHECKOUT_SCREEN

Step 2:

https://subdomain.domain.com/index.php?id=CHECKOUT_SCREEN&NAME_PATH=Internet2013&SCREEN=CHECKOUT_SCREEN&dialog=paytool

Step 3:

https://subdomain.domain.com/index.php?id=CHECKOUT_SCREEN&NAME_PATH=Internet2013&SCREEN=CHECKOUT_SCREEN&requestToken=235f7e96f8ca0bcfe7452e11f84bab15

Anyone have any thoughts on this mystery? I want GA Goal Tracking because then I can look at the funnel and get a better idea about converting keywords through attribution.

Thanks!

Hi, Joshua.

I think it's doable, but you need a bit of regular expressions there: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1034324?hl=en

Have to run, in case you can't figure it out yourself or anyone else reading this thread I'll get back to it later.

You would also be able to do this using Google Tag Manager (I love Google Tag Manager) but this would also need to have the new GTM code added across the site... which I guess the client wont want to do either...

@AdWiser 's regex option will work, but GTM might give you more options going forward.
