Hello everyone,
I wanted to create a thread to share experiences regarding the tracking of mobile web conversions vs desktop web conversions. There are a few pitfalls between the both of them such as
- cookie dropping: 1st vs 3rd party cookie treatment by the mobile browsers
- cookie durations: restarting the browser kills cookies on mobile
- cookie limitations: no cookies to be set from within apps
I would like to exchange thoughts about how those limitations affect the conversion tracking on your mobile site. I believe the discrepancies are bigger than on desktop compared to your internal DWH, aren't they? What is the best practices to overcome those? Working with a mobile tracking provider and creating a wrap app? Work with offline conversions? Don't work with conversion tracking at all?
I am excited to hear your thoughts!
Best,
Julian

What could also be interesting: how does tracking work when you advertise in-app for your mobile web? Is it still cookie based?
