Linking AdWords and Google Search Console: http vs. https

Hi, I'm trying to link my AdWords account with a GSC account. The site is https, however, when I go to type it in on the Linked Accounts screen in AdWords, it defaults to the http URL.

While there is a http site, it redirects to https when visited. Does anyone have any solutions? Thanks!

Hi Genna M,

Is the Search Console set up for http or https? AdWords can be linked to one that's set up in Search Console, so if https doesn't exist there, it wouldn't be available for linking in AdWords.

It has both in Search Console, but the https version is collecting all the data (since that is the actual version of the site).

Hi Genna,

I will recommend to go through the below URL and read Point 7. Tips and

https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/3097241?hl=en&authuser=2

"Learn how to solve indexing problems to make sure you're seeing all your data"

I hope this will help you.

Thanks,
Anand

Hi Anand,

Point 7 makes sense. However, the problem here is this part of it:

"In your Adwords account, link both www and non-www versions of your site (no need to specify HTTP or HTTPS, just example.com and www.example.com)."

When I try to link the accounts, I enter both the www and non-www versions, HOWEVER, it defaults to http because AdWords actually does not allow you to specify HTTP or HTTPS. The issue I'm having is that the HTTPS version of the site is what is live and collecting data against it. I need to link HTTPS not HTTP, and AdWords is not allowing me to do so.

Thanks!
Genna
