Hi,

Keyword planner shows the same search volume for average monthly searches for singular, plural, misspelled word or different variations of a keyword.

For example:

Hi Alexandru,

This is not a bug. In late September of 2014 AdWords began requiring all exact and phrase match keywords to use the close variant setting. This means that those keywords now show on misspellings, singular forms, plural forms, acronyms, stemmings (such as floor and flooring), abbreviations, and accents. Due to this change, the avg. monthly searches in the keyword planner will be the same across all variations of a keyword because Google views them as the same keyword.

If you do want to bid on the exact query and not close variants then you will need to add all variants as exact match negative keywords since negative keywords don't work like close variants.

The change in the Keyword Planner seems to have happened recently. See these discussions from the last week:

The new numbers are misleading - they give the impression that there are many more searches than reality. This is very annoying when preparing a forecast for potential clients that involves a lot of keywords and variations.

Google should display it like this

ceasuri barbatesti (and variants) 33,100

rather than listing each variant with duplicate numbers.

I completely agree with Rob - this is very misleading when forecasting and the change is a recent one. This is the jump we're experiencing for a set of keywords across different markets between April and June: http://screencast.com/t/XD7zB4qsBXw
