Hi AdWords Community,

I have a question regarding the UTM tagging & Quality Score on Google Search. Is the UTM tagging will affecting our Quality Score in Google Search if we use UTM tagging parameter for each destination URL's on Google Search Text Ads?

Need your help, thanks @RyanBatchin

Hi Ryan,

Off course not, UTM tagging has nothing to do with quality score. UTM codes are just little snippets of text added to the end of your URL to help you track the success of your campaign.

The quality score aspects are pretty clear; CTR, Ad relevancy and the landing page quality.
If you think because UTM parameters make your URLs appear long that will affect you landing page quality; no, that's not true.
The look of your destination URL doesn't matter. What matters is the landing page experience, just focus on making landing page directly relevant to your ad text and keyword, providing useful information about whatever you're advertising.

Hello,

The prime factor on search network to check is the CTR. How well you are able to maintain the CTR, will count towards the higher Quality Score of your keywords.

I don't think there is any direct relation of whether using auto tagging or manual tagging is going to impact this magical metric. That's basically being used to track results in your web analytics tool and measure further metrics.

That's my understanding!

Hi Ryan,

If I Understand your question correctly, Changing the Destination URL/existing URL of ads in your campaigns with UTM parameter, it would impact little in your campaigns for few days in your account performance. Then you might seen some fluctuation in CTR and QS. But There is no direct impact on QS and CTR in your campaigns.
