I'll see if I can help here by piecing together information, I agree that the documentation could be worked on a bit.
This page suggests that all AdWords for Video ads fall into the TrueView category.
I also found this info interesting...
TrueView in-stream ads
Ads play before, during or after YouTube partner videos of all lengths.
Once an ad has played for five seconds, viewers get the choice to skip it or watch the rest. ( I would call this an impression)
Pay only when viewers watch 30 seconds of the ad or all of the ad if it's less than 30 seconds. (When you pay = View)
