Hello,

I am working on an eCommerce website of one of my client related to healthcare niche and we have setup conversion tracking properly and able to track conversions 1 per click & many per click.

My questions is

How can I track number of quantities are ordered per conversion as my client offer some discount on volume purchasing if I able to track number of quantities per order it will be very helpful for me as it will reduce cost per conversion to 50% for two qunatities per order and 33% for 3, 25% for 4, 20% for 5 and so on. I know this is not a way to measure cost per conversion but it seems promising to my client and its in some manner.

Hi Sorry for delayed response.

Keep everything as original from your adwords code just make 2 changes

1. var google_conversion_value = 0; instead of this line use

if (<? echo $quantity?>) {
var google_conversion_value = <? echo $quantity?>
}

2. http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/conversion/xxxxxx/?value=0

instead of this line use

"http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/
conversion/xxxxxxxx/?value=
<? echo $quantity?>

where xxxx has to be replaced by real values from your adwords code.

Also please understand this is sample code i have given for PHP if your client is not using PHP then his coders will have to change this code to whatever server side scripting they might be using

Hope this helps

Hello and welcome,

To the best of my knowledge, I would say that measuring the quantity of orders is something which you cannot accomplish using Adwords conversion tracking code. It's because the javascript code is placed on last i.e. check out success page which will inform the Adwords servers that a conversion has happened from some Google ad. And if someone again makes an order using that similar ad copy, Google will increase the number in Conversion (many-per-click). That's my point of view.

For more analytical understanding, you might be interested in using Ecommerce Tracking in Google Analytics. This is the reference for details.

Just few of my thoughts!

Hi

I agree with Pankaj, Best way to track this is via analytics ecommerce tracking. But if you want to track the quantity in adwords then you can do so with help of following sample code. Just hope you dont want to track revenue as well Smiley Happy Because you can only pass one variable.

Once you implement this code you will be able to see the quantity in the value column in adwords.

This code is originally meant for revenue tracking but can also be used for quantities.

Here is sample code to achive this in PHP

 <img height=1 width=1 border=0
 src="http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/
 conversion/1234567890/?value=
 <? echo $quantity?>&label=Purchase&script=0">

Where $quantity is a variable storing the quantity of the order.

Hope this helps

Nik

Hi Nik,

I am going to send your conversion tracking sample code to my client so just want to confirm with you if any further requirement associated with it. For example any other modifications required in adwords settings and will this code can create some effect on current statistics.

Just some few questions:

1) In this text in conversion tracking code "[var google_conversion_label = "Purchase";]" some this type of text is present in my conversion tracking code "(var google_conversion_label = "NBsRCKXn8fdfefar9gM";]". i.e. "NBsRCKXn8fdfefar9gM" instead of "Purchase" in label variable line. So my question is should I use "NBsRCKXn8fdfefar9gM" instead of "Purchase" in this line "(<? echo $quantity?>&label=Purchase&script=0">)". So I will replace purchase with my label name?

2) Please also let me know if any other specific settings required for this code.

Thanks,

Mrunal

Hi Nik,

Thank you for your response and superb support.

I have sent code to my client and tell him to convert code in ASP as his website is in ASP.

Once again thank you for your help.
