Hi

I am sorry if this question have been asked before, When an user signs up ( fill up a query form) on my site I want to be able to store whether or not they came to my site via an Adwords campaign?? For example an user from different source can also come to the same page and fill the same form, How would we track which one filled the form from adword and who filled the form from other sources?

Thanks

Hi Raghavendra T,

You need to set up conversion tracking to find how many visitors from your adwords campaign signed up after visiting your website.

Find more information about conversion tracking below.

Hope this helps,

Deepak

I did set up a conversion tracking but just wanted to confirm if i would able to check only Adword conversions from it? Would it track only conversions happened from Adword? What will happen if someone signs up from any other traffic source?

Hey

Just to add to Info's reply, are you trying to do quantitative analysis or qualitative analysis?

  • Qualitative: Which leads came from which source
  • Quantitative: How many leads came from which source

Hi Raghavendra,

The adwords conversion tracking code will track 'conversions happened' from adwords.

If you are using Google Analytics, you can track conversions from all traffic sources by setting up 'Golas'

Hi Raghavendra T,

This can be done, but it's not as simple as it may seem. Most of it can be done with Javascript on the client side. The last bit needs to get done on the server side.

If you have auto-tagging turned on, have your script look for the presence of a gclid value in the query string. If it exists, this is an AdWords hit. Set a local cookie that identifies the visit as AdWords. When the conversion action is completed, look for the cookie. If it exists, add an indicator to your customer tracking system.

Do not use the referrer data to identify AdWords clicks. It is not reliable.

It's a little more complicated if the conversion happens on a 3rd party site.

Best of Luck!

Pete
