How long do forwarding numbers remain active?
I'm wondering how long forwarding numbers are active. For example, if a visitor sees a dynamically generated forwarding number on a site after clicking an ad, or they call through a forwarding number using a mobile click-to-call button, what happens if they go to call that same number a day/week/month later? Will it still work? and for how long? I assume Adwords has to recycle numbers occasionally.
Re: How long do forwarding numbers remain active?
Thanks for posting to the Community. Google Forwarding numbers can change from time to time, but there is no set timeframe for when that might happen. It is not recommended to promote a Google forwarding number or otherwise share it with customers outside of its home in your Call Extension, since it is meant only to track calls from ads or calls to your website, if you are using website call tracking.
You can see this info under the "Good to Know" section on this page.
Hope this helps,

To the best of my knowledge (& logical sense ):
On mobile - it's only for 'x' hours. After that it's linked to other ad impressions. If you see it on mobile, you tend to call immediately or in next few hours (not in few days or weeks!) and hence the limiter lifetime
On desktop / website - its allocated to adgroup level (someone can correct if it's at KW level?). As long as. ad group continues to get clicks AND people are also calling on the GFN, the GFN persists. Else it's taken back and your normal call extension number will show (instead of GFN #). There's no hard rule on threshold, it all depends on country and supply / demand of GFN numbers in that country. As you know google buys theres numbers from telecom.
hope that clarifies..
