Hi Robin,

Great question.

If I understand your question correctly, you want to import revenue numbers and booking ids into AdWords so that the information is associated with the clicks that drove the bookings.

To import this kind of information into AdWords you'll want to use offline conversion tracking, not Google Tag Manager.

Here is an explanation of offline conversion tracking, along with detailed steps for implementing it: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/7012522

As long as you are able to capture GCLIDs and associate them with bookings in your CRM (see the instructions in the article), you shouldn't have a problem importing revenue numbers into AdWords. I don't think you'll be able to import booking ids, as Google doesn't offer a field for that kind of information.

I hope that helps!

Best,

John

Hi John,

Thanks for you revert.

I heard somewhere that you by creating variables in GTM for revenue. You can pull the revenue value into your adwords account. Do you have any information on that?

Hi Robin,

If you're using GTM to fire AdWords conversion tracking you can set a conversion value which will be recorded in AdWords along with the conversion.

Here's an article about installing AdWords conversion tracking via GTM: https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/6105160?hl=en

If each conversion generates the same amount of revenue, your job will be super easy. You'll just set that revenue amount as the conversion value.

It gets a bit trickier if you have dynamic conversion values. You may find this helpful: https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/6106899?hl=en&rd=1#MacroTypesWeb

If you have dynamic conversion values, your easiest path forward will probably be to see if you can schedule a call with Google's tag implementation team and have them walk you through it.

I hope that helps!

John
