How can I insert GCLID in a click URL?

As I want to pass GCLID value to our tracking system, and later for offline conversion upload, how can I insert GCLID in a click URL? (Can this be done like Value Track? like inserting {gclid} in URL?)

Thanks.

Hi Andy,

ValueTrack is an advanced AdWords feature which is used by the advertisers to link it with their 3rd party tracking software and get the details synchronized.

Here's the help center reference which you might be interested in looking at to see how ValueTrack can be implemented: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2375447?hl=en

To import the offline conversions, there's a step by step process and requirements which have to be met before those conversions are updated in the regular AdWords interface. I would encourage you to read the detailed process here and then implement it for your account: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2998031?hl=en

I hope this helps somewhere!

Isn't the GCLID= value passed automatically on the click by Google?

Hi Andy - I think what you need to do is find a way to "capture" the gclid when someone arrives at your site - or your conversion destination.
If you are using Auto Tagging, the gclid will be present in every URL that is generated from an Adwords ad click.
If you are gathering leads, for example, many advertisers are able to include a hidden form field that is invisible to the user, but captures the gclid, or any other URL parameter and passes it along with the form submission data. There generally needs to be a destination field for this data wherever your lead information is posted.
Then, if you complete an offline sale, you can import the sale from the lead with the gclid information attached.

If you are not using Auto Tagging, then you won't see a glcid, correct??

Hi Andy,

GCLID can't be tracked by valuetrack. It is a product of Auto-tagging, as mentioned by Liz and Benjamin.

I think you might find this article helpful, regarding how to upload offline conversions: http://www.lunametrics.com/blog/2014/03/04/tracking-offline-transactions-universal-analytics/#sr=g&m...

Enable auto-tagging. The parameter will be appended to your click URL as key-value pair

The best way to track GDN correctly is to create your own tracking system on your website and label it for different tracking purposes. Copy this tracking and insert into google advance setting. This tracking link will be the destination links that will redirect to your website. You now can manage the clicks and conversions from which display banners that you label for each of the tracking which will show on your website tracking dashboard easily. Hope the information may help.
