Help me tracking correctly

Hi,

I'm currently trying to fix my tracking issue with Universal Analytics. Here is the problem: I've implemented UA on my website and created Event in order to track people clicking on different buttons. However, it's currently not working (I'm clicking myself on buttons and wait 2 days).

Could please help me fixing this issue?

Here is an example my tracking code and my page with different buttons:

http://gretaduval.be/contact-estheticienne-uccle

button 1 telephone:
<a href="tel:0495212970" onclick="ga('send', 'event', 'Button', 'Click', 'Phone');"><img src="http://gretaduval.be/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/tel-estheticienne.png"></a>

PS: I'm trying to solve this issue with GTM. But creating an event through GTM means adding UA Tag on the website?

Thanks a lot

Hi Sebastien,
The reason this isn't working is because you're using GTM. You need to set up the virtual pageview in a macro on the GTM container. Alternatively, remove GTM (I think you've already done this?) and implement it as you have there in your example and it should work.

Also, as this is the AdWords forum, if you need any additional help with this, I'd recommend that you ask over on the GA forum here - https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/analytics (You'll get a lot more support for this there).

Hope that helps.

Hi,

Sorry, I'll go on Analytics Forum then!
However, could please be more specific about "set up the virtual pageview in a macro on the GTM container". I'd like to master GTM because it seems to be much easier to use and manage tags.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Sebastien,
Yes, it's great for MULTIPLE tags.
If your only tag is Google Analytics and AdWords conversion tags, it becomes a lot more complicated than it needs to be.

If you're staying with GA and AdWords only, I wouldn't bother with the added complexity of GTM.

Everyone including Analytics loves GTM!
