Google Conversion Tracking Code issues.

Hi,

A new client came to me, asking for me to remove an incorrectly placed Google conversion tacking code from his website. The code was placed in the templates index file and should have been placed in the forms thank you page.

My strange issue is that when I remove the tracking code from the index file, the websites logo dissapears.

Strange...So I played with a bit, trying to figure it out, and even when I change just 1 single character in the code:

eg: Changed one character in the line...var google_conversion_id, the logo dissapears.

Replace it, logo reappears.

Cany anyone suggest why this is happening ?

Thanks

Greg

Try moving this:
<script type="text/javascript">
$.noConflict();
</script>

Above the google codes, then change the conv. value to sum number.

Hi HWD.

It depends on what character you inserted. The first thing I'd look for is an open quote (single or double) that isn't closed after you make your change.

Also, the script doesn't look quite right. This line should be in the noscript portion of the script and should be an image. Plus, you have the script in the head part of the page, and that won't work:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/conversion/1010226495/?label=KBwJCMGf8gMQv6rb4QM&guid=ON&...

should be:

<noscript&gt;
<img src="http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/conversion/1010226495/?label=KBwJCMGf8gMQv6rb4QM&amp;guid=ON&...
</noscript&gt;

Best of Luck!

Pete,

Ok, this seems to have worked.

I moved all of the tracking code out of the head section, Also the conversion ID value was not in quotes at all, now it is.

Now, when I change the conversion ID value to simply "0" the logo is still there.

So I assume that by having an ID value of "0" the conversion tracking is disabled.

Thanks for your help.
