Google Analytics showing significantly less numbers

My website is getting over 1000 unique visitors a day (I know this by the comments I receive, shares, etc). However Google Analytics shows less than 10-100 visitors a day. I have made sure that the code is placed on every page and at the top of the page too, but still getting these inaccurate results. I even deleted my first Google Analytics account as I thought there maybe some problem in it. However the new account gives me the same problem. Does anyone have a solutuion?

Hi
I think you should check your server logs to be absolutely certain about the count of visitors. Also are you absolutely sure that GA code is not only present but also firing on all the pages?

Hi Rohit,
To add to Nik's answer, you may also consider posting your question in the Google Analytics Forum, just to see if some insights there might shed some light on your question.
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/analytics

Common reasons why you're seeing a low number of visitors in GA is either the code isn't on every page, the code isn't firing correctly, and/or users are blocking cookies/scripts which make tracking through GA impossible. I doubt the latter is the case, as you're seeing such a large discrepancy.
In the GA help section, there is a troubleshooting guide -
https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1009683?hl=en

Finally, if you post a link to your site, that could help as people could look at the code and see how it is set up.

Thanks guys for the reply. The GA code is present on every page and its firing to the best of our knowledge. Is there any way to tell whether its firing or not?

For the 8-9th February period, the below page on our website received 149 page likes so a mimimum of 149 people visited that page (it will be definately a lot more as not everyone likes your page). We ran a FB ad campaign where the users directly land on this page.

GA shows 43 unique visitors and Awstats shows 109 visitors for the 2 day period. What could be the problem?

Hi rohit,

there might be a reason you have used the Profile Filters in analytics.

You can check that in analytics Go to Admin --->Under View Select the Profile ---> Filters and if you see there is a filter used than your would be able to see filtered data only.

If that is not the case then it would be better if you post your question to analytics forum.

Regards,
Rupesh

Hi Rohit,
This link might help you diagnose if GA is firing -

Also, try posting your question in the Google Analytics Forum just to see if anyone there has any ideas. I looked at your site, and it appears to be set up correctly.

Google Analytics showing significantly less numbers

I come across so many people that use a Server based analytics and every single person tells me that they also (as is the case with myself) see substantially lower number of visitors in GA compared to Server based analytics, including server logs.

I have read about this as much as I humanly can read and made a dozen modifications on our website, but nothing has made any changes to the discrepency. We have a full analytics with real-time data, with detailed IP address and country of origin, referrers, etc. etc. But still the GA shows about 10% the number of visitors.

I have checked the code, had others check the code, and still nothing. Just seems very odd.

Our site is http://WritersViews.com and we can see all the discussion groups, questions and answers, comments, etc. But GA only shows 10%. Anyone who can offer a sensible solution, I would very much appreciate. Thank you.
