Converted Clicks are reported incorrectly

Hi Folks,

we are having some sort of an issue with the Adwords dashboard campaign report. It shows a higher number of converted clicks than the actual conversions (we have internal tracking as well)

But when we navigate to Tools -> Conversions the Signup conversion shows the correct amount. Apart from Signup conversion we also have few other conversions we track from Analytics and 2 more Unique Sale and Sale Volume we track from Ad-words

Can someone help us on how we can Just get the signup conversion to report on the Campaign -> Converted Clicks column.

Hi Nayana,

The counting method "unique conversions" or "all conversions" have to be set for each conversion action and defines whether only 1 or all conversions will be counted per ad click. (more info)

The dashboard simply counts all conversions for all conversion actions in your account and then applies a filter ("all campaigns" by default). You can change the filter, but it's not possible to  exclude certain conversion actions so the only way to get only signups in there is to remove all other conversion actions from your account. Now, this is probably not something you want.

Alternatives might be to create reports in AdWords or to create custom reports or a dasbhoard in Analytics.

Hi Nayana,

Your dashboard will show all conversions or converted clicks that are being tracked by AdWords. So if in AdWords you're tracking:

  • Signups
  • Sales (transactions)

Your dashboard will show the sum of the converted clicks for both

Ken,

Thanks for the reply. But for us a sale can only occur if signup has already occurred. So we only want the dashboard to show the signup. When i click track unique conversions is it tracking uniques from all conversions?

is there anyway we can maintain other conversions for metrics and only allow to show one of the conversions in the dashboard?

Thanks again for your help.
