Conversions not displaying in Adwords

Hello,

Since April, I have received no conversions on my campaign.  A conversion being when someone just goes to the contact us page.  It has been working fine up until April and I do not believe that people haven't been clicking on the page as I have been receiving the same amount traffic.  The code is positioned in between the <body></body> on the following page:

http://www.fusion.co.uk/contactus.html

Would be grateful for any help on this.  I know one of my developers updated the contact page a while back although when I checked the page I had seen the conversion code was still displaying so didn't think it would cause any problems.

Hello, Tom.

There are two issues there. First, your javascript code includes two blank "comments", which are written incorrectly. You have /*/ in your code, then some javascript variables, and then again /*/.

The problem is that javascript treats everything between /* and */ as a multiline comment. So no javascript variables are assigned.

Get the conversion code from AdWords again, and tell your developer that when the page is rendered in the browser, the code has to look exactly like that.

Secondly, you have some code which Chrome's Tag Assistant identifies as a remarketing tag, which is rendered in your page like

"http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/conversion/xxxxx/?label=yyyyyy&guid=ON&script=0" originalattribute="src" originalpath="http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/conversion/xxxxx/?label=yyyyyy&guid=ON&script=0" originalattribute="src" originalpath="http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/conversion/xxxxx/?label=yyyyyy&guid=ON&script=0" originalattribute="src" originalpath="http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/conversion/xxxxx/?label=yyyyyy&guid=ON&script=0" originalattribute="src" originalpath=

and so on, several times. If you don't need that, tell him to clean it. If you're supposed to remarket to that page's audience as well, make sure it's implemented correctly as well.

Good luck & keep us posted.

Hi Tom, Calin's already said everything that needs to be said I think!  All I'd add as an aside is that your developer may wish to install the Tag Assistant Calin mentions.  If he had, he'd have been able to see the problems for himself instantly and it'll show you immediately when the problems are fixed.

Personally, I'd send that developer back to school. This is very basic Javascript and he (she) should definitely know better than that. The entire conversion script assignment block has been commented out. I have confirmed this with Firebug--the necessary values have not been assigned to the variables.

Best of Luck!

Thank you for your help, I have deleted the conversion code and the re-marketing tags and copied across a new conversion code from Adwords. I didn't think to check the actual code itself, I was just checking to make sure the conversion ID was correct! I will know to check this next time, I just assumed the conversion code wouldn't have been edited....never assume!
