Can you find impression share by region?

Is there a way to view how your impression share varies from region to region (or state to state)  Upon first glance I can't seem to find a way to drill down.  If there's an easy way to determine this (or a creative workaround) - let me know!

Hi Bryan,

Welcome to the AdWords CommunitySmiley Happy

No we can not see impression share at region or city wise. AdWords gives impression share at campaigns level, means we will allow to see impression share report of campaign's targeted location, not region wise.

Creative Workaround
a. Create Carbon Copy Campaigns on AWE
b. Change Geographic settings for each Carbon Copy Campaign
c. Run for 30 days
d. Run impr. share report for each Geographically separated carbon copy campaign.

Hello Michae,

So we can see Impression share at city or state level if we set granular campaigns targeting each a city or state ?

What do you think about seeing these Impression Share metrics at the campaign level ? Aren't they available also at ad group and keyword level ?

Will targeting a smaller location increase the Search Impression Share percentage because our impressions are divided by a smaller number of total local impressions ?

Adrian,

You can view your impr. performance on all campaigns using dimensions > Geographic and custom columns for geographical reach -- however if the user wasnt t o compare impr. share% - this is not available in dimensions, but can be viewed by segmenting territorial campaigns -- be advised this should be performed on easy to manage campaigns, not complex campaigns.

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for pointing out, What do you think about seeing these Impression Share metrics at the campaign level ? Aren't they available also at ad group and keyword level ?

I agree we can see impression share at Keyword and Ad Group level but i mean to say location setting is available at campaigns level, not keywords and Ad Group level. That is why i have mentioned Impression share is available at campaign level but  i did not used Campaign level "Only" in my sentense.

So we can see Impression share at city or state level if we set granular campaigns targeting each a city or state ?

In short, Yes. If your campaign is targted in one city, you can see the impression share for that location. But still i don't follow this rule as you have to replicate multiple campaigns with same theme.

Will targeting a smaller location increase the Search Impression Share percentage because our impressions are divided by a smaller number of total local impressions?

Your smaller location(let's say city) is the subset of bigger location(let's say State). So if your city level impression share is low it means, your state level impression share is also low, and if you target two city in same campaigns, have different impression share, it never be the sum of two differnt campaign for two different city.

Let say example:-

You have targted two diffrent campaigns with diffrent location and assigned equal budget for both campaign ($100).

Now one campaign consume only 30% of total budget ($30) and one consume 100% within a day.

So AdWords will show one campaign with high percentage of Lost IS (by budget).  But one campaign will not suffer with lost impression share by budget.

let's take another example -- if both the city is targeted in one campaign your daily budget is $200. so Adwords will automatically distribute budget to location that has high searches. so here your lost impression share (by budget) is different.

Thank you Michae and Rakesh. I did not read an indication in the first message that a single campaign is targeting all regions but in case it is , I would also create campaigns for each smaller regions, for many reasons.
