Analytics campaign sessions only 1/10th of adwords clicks

I have read all over about the ins and outs of the differences between clicks and sessions - but I still smell something fishy.

We had 93 clicks since we started our adwords campaign last week but only 9 sessions were recorded - all with 100% bounce and 0:00 seconds session time!

How can this be? We have auto-tagging on and everything appears to be configured correctly. Surely we must see better traffic than that in Analytics!

Besides our site loads in under 300ms on average so there is very little time for a user to bounce before the tracking code loads.

Any ideas where we might be going wrong?

Hi Le-roy,

When you look at your AdWords reports in Analytics, is the discrepancy between clicks and sessions across all campaigns, or just some? For example, if you have multiple campaigns, do you see that the sessions are being reported just for some that have clicks, but not for the others?

If there is indeed a discrepancy only in some campaigns, it could be that the Analytics tracking code is not installed correctly on some of the landing pages, thus causing sessions to not be recorded (clicks would still be correct, since they are pulled in from AdWords reporting).

You may also want to try using the Analytics debugger extension for Chrome.

Regards.

It hasn't recorded any campaigns; it only says "(Not set)" ... incorrectly configured tracking code maybe?

Just to make sure; did you already link your AdWords account to your Analytics account using these steps?

If you already did that, and the reporting still doesn't work, could you please post a screenshot of what you're looking at in Analytics?

Regards.
