Analytics Goals as AdWords conversions

Hi all,

In the last week I’ve set up our first Google AdWords campaign.  I notice within AdWords there’s the conversion tracking feature.  It currently isn’t set up.

In Google Analytics, I have 5 Goals already set up to track:

  • 4 different Form completions (leads),
  • 1 checkout / transaction completion.

These show up in Google Analytics, and are working well.

I would like AdWords conversion tracking to use the Goals in Analytics, because a conversion resulting from the AdWords ad would be the same as a Goal already set up in Analytics.

I’ve connected the AdWords account with the Analytics account.  Within Analytics, I can see “Paid Search” traffic in Acquisition-> Channels.

Within AdWords, I’ve been through the ‘walk-through’ setup of conversions, and I can see there’s features that are different to Analytics (attribution models, for example).  The end result of the walkthrough is more code / tags to add to the website.

Is there a way to setup my AdWords campaign to use existing Google Analytics Goals as AdWords conversions?

I hope that makes sense.  Many thanks in advance!

Tools > Conversions, then click on Google Analytics on the left. If your accounts have been correctly connected, you should see the goals there. Simply import them - it is best to do one at a time.
