Adwords stopped importing conversion data from google analytics. Pls help.

We have been importing goals from Google Analytics to measure conversions. Did not have any issues previously.

However, adwords now reports that it is somehow not pulling the data any more (last reported conversion: 5 days ago). I am aware of the 48-hours delay, but I think it is now safe to say that we are well past that.

Analytics is still reporting goals being completed, they are just not being pulled over to AdWords. We have made no changes to any of the accounts.

Any ideas on what to do?

Hi All,

Here's thr lastest update to this issue from Google technical specialists:

Since January 7, we’ve been experiencing a technical issue that affects a small number of advertisers who are importing engagement-based Google Analytics goals into AdWords, such as page depth and time on site. For those affected, these goals have not been correctly imported into AdWords since January 7. Although data is not being reported in AdWords, it is still being accurately recorded in Google Analytics.

Advertisers who are importing URL-based goals into AdWords, like a visit to an order confirmation page, have not been affected.

Our engineering teams are working on a fix and we’ll provide an update when it’s available.

If you’ve been using optimization tools (conversion optimizer, eCPC) that are based off of these engagement goals, your campaigns might have been affected as a result of operating with incomplete data. Once the issue is resolved, the optimization tools will work as normal moving forward.

Please contact customer support if you have additional questions.

Thanks,

Mini

I also noticed a four day delay in reporting imported analytics goals for several accounts today. A three day lag happens on occasion, but I can't recall a four day lag before. I know there have been adwords goal completions, because I can get the data from analytics of course. Not all the accounts that are using imported goals have this issue, so it doesn't seem like an across the board problem...

I don't know that there's much we can do except wait and see.

Sorry for the delay in processing.  We encountered a bug.  I've been told that all data is now up to date.  Please let us know if you are still having a problem.

Thanks JD, but I am still having a problem - Specifically with the time and pages goals. Analytics does report goal completions from google cpc, but since Jan. 7th they haven't been reporting in the adwords UI.

Update: The problem is still occuring. For all clients in our MCC using imported time and/or pages goals.

I know these are just engagement goals, but for some clients that's all we have, and it really causes problems when using conversion based bidding and ad serving options. If it's going to be a while before this get's sorted out I can adapt, but then again if it's going to be fixed tomorrow I don't want to over-react... Any update on the situation would be appreciated. Smiley Happy

Dear Mimi,

Thanks for this update and bug-confirmation.

The campaign performance of our customers is heavily impacted by this bug because we use CPA bidding.
We had to pauze all campaigns.

I hope they can fix this very soon.

Certainly, this bug does affect CPA campaigns using engagement goals as the conversion event, but... Follow me on this:

Because the bidding depends so much on conversions, for periods of time where conversions are not occuring in the UI - Yes, you lose some performance - But, on the other hand, overall costs, due to restricted ad serving, because of lack of performance go down... Did that make any sense?

In other words, rather than having to pause campaigns, I'm struggling to spend the allocated budget.

So, is it better to deny the Google machine innacurate data, or let it accrue innacurate data?

Is it better to be conscious and aware of an un-reality, or be unconscious and un-aware of reality?

For 21 January all conversions seem to be present again. Smiley Happy
So it seems this bug is fixed.

But there is still missing conversion data for the period 7-21 January.
Does anybody know if conversions for this period will be re-imported too?
