Adwords conversion tracking did not work

Hi,

Three days ago my web master help me to implement the conversion tracking on the "Order completion" page for my product.

In order to verify it, I followed below steps:

1, I set up a search google campaign, and clicked at my own ads through google search using Google Chrome.

2, One day later, I went to my website to make a purchase, using Google Chrome again. By the way, I did not clear my cookie. During the purchase process, I turned on Google tag assistant to record any Google tag fired on the page. Before I reach "Order completion" page, I did not see anything.

3, When I reached the order completion page, I indeed saw two conversion ID and label were detected. It says

Includes AdWords Conversion Tracking

96047xxxx;XXXFCKCczWMQ7_j-xxx

Includes AdWords Conversion Tracking

101537xxxx;XXXVCPbjvQQQ-tiVxxx

My own conversion ID is 101537xxxx. I believe this message means that the conversion ID and label is properly implemented.

4, Now more than 50 hours have passed since my last purchase, the conversion status in my Adwords account is still unverified.

I don't know how to do trouble shooting any more. Can somebody please help me? It is quite urgent, as the product for which I am doing ads will expire in a few weeks.

Julia

Hi Julia,

I would suggest looking at all the required methods described here to double check whether the conversion tracking is successfully installed or not:- https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/1722021?hl=en

Apart from this, another alternative is to check at the Google Analytics end and see if you are able to record any transactions there or not. I hope you have linked AdWords with Analytics. If not, still you can track the goal conversions (if you have configured them) for other traffic sources i.e. direct, organic, referral etc.. That would give you more idea if actual purchases are getting tracked or not.

Hope this helps!

Pankaj

Adwords conversion tracking did not work

Hi Pankaj,

1, I indeed followed the video to verify that my conversion ID/label are correctly installed through Google Tag Assistant. I don't see any problem there.

However, I don't see my test conversion (I click my own ads and then make a purchase, reaching to the "order completion" page) reflected from my Adwords account. It means that other customer's purchase won't show there as well. Very disappointed!!!

2, The order completion page is with third party. It took us quite a lot of time and effort in order to implement the conversion ID/label. I don't have Google analytic tag implemented on the same page. Without Google Analytics connected to the page, I don't know how to track the goal conversion for other traffic sources, like direct, organic, referral, etc. Can you please provide more details on this?

Thanks.

Julia

Hi,

On the order completion page, there were two different conversion ID/label installed. Can that cause any problem?

Thanks.

Best regards,

Julia

Hi Julia,

Having multiple sets of the AdWords conversion code on one page is not a problem, unless more than one set belongs to the same account. My only suggestion is to check your conversion id and label values. The AdWords conversion code works with a 3rd party cookie and does not require Analytics or linking of your accounts.

Best of Luck!

Adwords conversion tracking did not work

I have identified the issue by using Google tag assistant. Let me first introduce some notation.

My Google Adwords conversion ID/label: 101537XXXX / xxxxCPbjvQQQ-tiXXXX
Unknown Adwords conversion ID/label: 96047XXXX / xxxxCKCczWMQ7_jXXXX

It very strange that in Google tag manager, it shows that my conversion ID/label is wrongly implemented, while the unknown one is correctly implement. However, my webmaster does not where this unknown conversion ID come from, as he could not find it anywhere in the coding.

Below is the wrong code show up in the box of Metadata under my conversion ID. But when the webmaster review his code, everything is right. He cannot figure out anything wrong.

Is it because the web also has FB pixel in it?

What else can cause the problem? I urgently need help. Thanks a lot.

Best regards,

Julia
