Adwords Misreporting Conversions
Over the weekend the Adwords account I run is reporting to have had 48 conversions, however, the matching Analytics only reports 12. Now I know Analytic's can be slightly behind - but on this occasion I am inclined to believe it is Adwords which has the wrong conversion number. This is primarily because we have only received around 12 forms over the weekend (a goal for us in Analytics/conversion in Adwords).
I therefore need to know why Adwords is misreporting our conversions so wildly? Is this a bug others are experiencing? Or can it be easily fixed?
Thanks in advance,
Re: Adwords Misreporting Conversions
Do you by any chance have multiple or overlapping conversion types being recorded in AdWords? Sometimes, things like phone calls and other varying conversion points will be counted in the totals for AdWords conversions and if this is the case, definitely will not match one particular Goal in GA.
For instance, I've run into situations where AdWords conversion code is on the form confirmation page and is being tracked in AdWords, then a Goal is set up in GA for the same conversion and imported into AdWords. This would essentially be double counting one particular conversion. I would start there and examine what is being included in your total conversions/converted clicks columns in AdWords.
I have not noticed nor heard of any particular issues with conversion reporting recently.
