How can you get Adwords Conversion Tracking, or Analytics Goals data for hardcover, and ebook sales through an Amazon Author's Page for a Google Adwords campaign?

Hi Steve M,

Welcome to the AdWords CommunitySmiley Happy

First i would like to explain that you want to promote through Google AdWords with Amazon, your ads will not serve properly because it is the against of AdWords Double serving policy.

As It is a third party site so you are not able to track the conversion codes means you can not allow to insert the conversion tracking code in Amazon.com.

Instead of this you can create a small website of your ebooks and promote it through through AdWords. And you will get full control of your website and conversion tracking.

Hi Steve M,

I have to disagree.

First, this is not a violation of the Double Serving Policy, but that does not mean there isn't a potential problem. The double-serving policy states one-business can not advertise the same services and/or products on multiple web sites in an effort to show their ad more than once on a single SERP. In this case, it would be multiple advertisers advertising the same domain, amazon.com. The problem is that Google will only show one ad per top-level domain on any single SERP. That means you are competing for that one spot with all other advertisers for amazon.com. That could mean your CPC's will be higher. But, on the other hand, there may be no competition from other Amazon authors.

Second, I could not tell from a brief review of Amazon authors pages id you can place Javascript on your page. Even if you can't you could use the image part of the conversion script on the page. But the Author's page isn't the best location for the conversion code. The conversion code should be delivered with the page that confirms the order has been placed, aka the "thank you" page. You would need to place the conversion code, or the image, on that page.

Best of Luck!

Thanks for your reply, Pete! I should rephrase this question to: "Adwords Conversion Tracking On An Amazon Thank You Page." What is the image part of the conversion script?

Hey Steve,

I'm not real familiar with the Amazon thank you page. If it is a customizable page and you can place javascript on that page, paste the AdWords conversion code into that page and you will be able to track the conversions.

If you can't place javascript on the page, you could use just the image part of the conversion code. How you go about plugging in the sale amount, I have no idea.

Best of Luck!

Hi Steve M,

Just the part between the noscript tags, not including the tags. Looks like this:

<img height="1" width="1" border="0" src="https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/conversion/9999999999/?value=<<this:grandtotal>>&label=a...

Best of Luck!

Hi Steve,
Did you ever get anything that you could actually use for tracking on the Amazon thank you page. Very interested in that information.

You can use Adwords to bring traffic to your amazon listings, but you won't be able to track conversion rates.

That is until now. I'm working on a SASS that just does that!
We are in development and testing but we have managed to get all the data including conversion rates. Smiley Happy

I'd be interested in that! In the mean time, is it possible to implement the AdWords conversion-tracking code without a "thank you" page? I'd be happy enough just to count those who clicked out on an Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, etc. link - but I don't want to throw extra, annoying pages at potential customers!
