Add the search query in the url

Hello,

I would like to add the search query as a parameter in my url. I know that value click {Keyword} exists but it only add the keyword which triggers the add and not the actual search query.

Someone said that to use the referral url may be a solution but can't be done because of the secure mode (https) https://www.en.adwords-community.com/t5/Advanced-Features/What-is-the-ValueTrack-for-Search-Query/m-...

I personaly doubt that it's not possible. First of all, because Adwords doesn't use the secure mode.

Let's have an example with the search query "plancha pas cher"

Location : 1

http://www.google.fr/aclk?sa=l&ai=CvR8UTuceU7yCBObs7Qbr-IC4BrPHpJUG6-a2-YcBisqusQwIABABKANQ29GgkAJg-...q=plancha+pas+cher&ved=0CCkQ0Qw&adurl=http://www.deco.fr/shopping-deco/plancha/%23srcid%3Dsem_google

Location : 2

http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=CvR8UTuceU7yCBObs7Qbr-IC4BrPHpJUG6-a2-YcBisqusQw...

Here at Location : 2 (googleadservices.com) we loose q=plancha+pas+cher

Another example where we don't loose q= - Search query : "dvd game of thrones"

Location : 1

http://www.google.fr/aclk?sa=l&ai=CqQuSK-QeU4zHBKOujAaH9YLACprJ3J0E0rGw4na06bjDbQgDEAIoAlCg64g_YPuR9...q=dvd+game+of+thrones+&ved=0CLgBENEM&adurl=http://pixel.everesttech.net/3790/c?ev_sid%3D3%26ev_ln%3Ddvd%2520game%2520of%2520thrones%26ev_crx%3D...

Location : 2

http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=CqQuSK-QeU4zHBKOujAaH9YLACprJ3J0E0rGw4na06bjDbQg...dvd%2520game%2520of%2520thrones%26ev_crx%3D32524219250%26ev_mt%3De%26ev_n%3Dg%26ev_ltx%3D%26ev_pl%3D%26ev_pos%3D1o2%26ev_dvc%3Dc%26ev_dvm%3D%26url%3Dhttp%253A//ea.pixmania.fr/dynclick/pixmania-fr/%253Fesl-k%253DGoogle_EGP_GEN_FR%257Cng%257Cc32524219250%257Cme%257Ckdvd%2520game%2520of%2520thrones%257Cp%257Ct%257Cdc%2526eurl%253Dhttp://www.pixmania.fr/search/games-of-thrones/xx-xx-xx-783-xx-xx-xx-relevancy-desc-1-10-page.html%2523srci...

This time at Location : 2, we don't loose the query but the website uses a third party solution. The destination url (adurl=) is http://pixel.everesttech.net.

Is it a way to do that simply and without using a third party solution?

Thanks for your answer, anything could be useful!

Alex

Hi

You can refer to this article. Its a bit of workaround with some coding but it worked for me.

Hi Alexandre,

My name is Craig and I am happy to provide some additional insight regarding adding search query as a parameter in your URL. As a standard implementation, there is no simple and easy solution for tracking the search query at the individual click level. Here is a comprehensive list of the ValueTrack parameters and the type of information each parameter can provide in a keyword-targeted or placement-targeted campaign.

As always, Google offers aggregate search terms reports at the keyword level but tracking the search query to this granular of a level will be a non-standard third party solution. I hope this helps and feel free to respond with any additional questions!

Best,

Craig
