AdWords Conversion with Google Tag manager

Hello to everybody,

I would like to track clics on a button from our ads Adwords. The button is on all pages of our site - It's a button Make a donation.

Is it possible to set up the tracking via Google Tag Manager? Is it a conversion/ or event?

Thank you all for your time and have a nice Sunday.

Kaci

Yes, you can do this directly with GTM and AdWords, as long as the button is "observable" (not in an iframe).

In tag manager, go to "Variables" and make sure all the Click rules are turned on.

Next, you need to create the event around the button click in GTM.  I like visual explanations - here is a good one: <link removed by a Community manager per Community Guidelines, following a complaint from a senior Community Member. The video included a lengthy sales pitch for a video training series, making it inappropriate content for this Community. Please do not re-post this or similar links.>

To track this click as a conversion in AdWords, create an AdWords conversion tracking tag  and
deploy it using Google Tag Manager: https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/6105160?hl=en - using the trigger you've created for your button click to fire the tag.

The simplest way is to track an event on the button click. Once the event is triggered, you can import that back into your AdWords account as a conversion.

Be sure that this is the only click on the page that will fire the tag...

Thanks for your reply. Do you mean to track an event on the button click in Google Analytics and to set up this event as conversion in Google Adwords? Thanks
